The discovery and solution implementation process is different for every business because we customize solutions for your specific needs and root causes. However, the steps below represent the standard phases we use to learn about and devise solutions for each situation.
Note: you can request the services a la carte. Return to the home page and click on the service you want to learn more about.
Step One: Orientation & Discovery
In Step One, our goal is to understand the general context of your problem and what symptoms you have identified. This step generally involves:
- An hour long consultation (on site or remote).
- A proposed course of action to research the problem, which includes three potential routes you can take. These options will be presented in writing for you to share with your team and to use even if you decide not to move forward with Root Cause Consulting.
- These routes can be completed separately or consecutively, or you can choose not to pursue any of these options.
- Each route comes with a timeline and anticipated cost.
We will send the proposal via email within 3-4 days after our consultation. Sending the document in advance gives you time to think through your options and discuss them with your team. If you choose to move into Step Two, simply reach back out and to schedule a follow-up meeting.
Step Two: Plan of Action
In Step Two, we work together to formalize a plan. We will meet to discuss your chosen option and to establish what we will need to move forward. In this meeting, we will discuss the following:
- The people, departments, information, and places we will need access to during our information gathering. Without access to the right people and information, we cannot provide an accurate assessment of the root cause.
- The projected time frame and schedule for this research plan.
- A more specific price point as a result of our discussion regarding the previously mentioned information.
Note: any changes, extensions, or price updates will be discussed prior to any changes in the contract. We will not move forward with significant changes without your approval.
Step Three: Research
In Step Three, we conduct the agreed upon course of action. The time frame and number of steps will vary depending on the course(s) of action established in Step Two.
Step Four: Debrief
In Step Four, we will meet together again to discuss the completed process(es), results, and next steps (if applicable). This step concludes the contracted assignment, but can also be a time to discuss follow-up action, if desired.
